MYSA Spike Mat

Welcome to MYSA – Sweden’s original spike mat

Discover the profound healing properties of MYSA’s spike mat

Spike mats have been used for thousands of years to promote relaxation and healing. MYSA’s spike mats, already a huge success in health conscious Sweden, offer numerous benefits for anyone wanting to relieve stress, aches and pains in muscles (especially in the back, neck and shoulders) and poor sleep.

What is a spike mat?

The first mats were made in Russia over thirty years ago – they were known as name ‘Kuznetsov Applicators ' – and sold in their millions.

Then the Swedes got in on the good news and optimized the health benefits in their own version – the MYSA mat, which has been hugely popular ever since it appeared on the market there.

MYSA’s spike mat consists of a soft pad of about 75 x45 cm, coated with a total of 210 special tips, with pyramidal tips for balanced non-invasive acupuncture and reflexology, which promotes blood circulation and helps release emotional, physical and mental blockages.

The density and the lining of these tips have been designed for optimum comfort combined with maximum effectiveness of needle-localized skin pressure. These tips are placed along the mat so that, with someone lying on them, they gently impose the right degree of pressure to stimulate the energy lines and body meridians.

How does the MYSA mat work?

The specially designed tips that cover the MYSA mat stimulate the nervous system, which sends impulses to the spine and the brain. This stimulus also activates the production of endorphins and oxytocin.

Endorphins, sometimes known as ‘happy hormones’, block pain receptors and in turn produces a sense of wellbeing. The hormone oxytocin produces a deep sense of calm, which can be felt like a slight drowsiness and helps relieve stress, fatigue and sleep problems.

The mat also stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation, boosting oxygen supply to muscles and organs, improving circulation and skin health.

In the first 2 to 3 minutes you may experience a certain discomfort lying on the tips for the first time. But relax, because in just a few minutes that initial discomfort will transform into deep-reaching sensations of warmth and wellbeing. To reduce the pressure you feel from the tips, you can wear a light shirt until you feel more comfortable lying with your skin against the mat.
